The Goat Man Needs Your Wisdom 🐐🔮
If you had to compare Sacrimony to something, what would it be?
Hi there... Goat Herd?? Can I call you that?
Anyway, I have a question for you this week, and it’s something I’ve genuinely been curious about for a while.
What would you compare Sacrimony to?
Whenever people are pitching a story, one of the most common things you hear is something like, “It’s like X meets Y,” or “If you liked this series, you’ll probably enjoy this too.” It’s a quick way to give people an idea of the tone or themes of a story.
The funny thing is… I’ve never been very good at doing that with my own work.
Part of that is practical. I’m not someone who consumes a lot of media these days. Between working, making comics, writing newsletters, rescuing cats and trying to maintain something resembling a normal life, I just don’t have the time to watch every new show or read every series people are talking about.
But there’s another reason too.
I think I know too much about Sacrimony to be able to compare it to something else in simple terms.
I know all the little details, the motivations behind every decision, the backstory that never even makes it onto the page and the character arcs that won’t pay off for years. When you’re that deep inside something, it becomes harder to step back and say, “Oh, this is basically like that other story.”
Especially when I’m also dissecting all of the other media I’ve read, watched or played…
Like, I could say something like “It’s like Game of Thrones, except it doesn’t revolve around kings and queens or knights and there’s no sexual violence against women and people of color aren’t depicted as horse-fucking savages and characters don’t just die for shock value and blah blah blah…” you get it.
To me, Sacrimony just feels like… Sacrimony.
Which is why I thought I’d ask you.
If you’ve been reading the comic, are there any series that it reminds you of?
It could be anything:
A comic
A novel
A TV show
A movie
A game
Even just a general tone or vibe
Maybe it reminds you of something because of the characters. Maybe it’s the emotional tone, the complicated relationships, or the way the story looks at people trying to deal with the lives they were given. Sometimes readers notice connections that creators never consciously intended, and I’d love to hear your perspective.
So if something comes to mind, feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you’d compare Sacrimony to.
(Also, please don’t say “Sacrimony is something totally original and I’ve never seen anything like it in my life!” because there’s gotta be SOMETHING!)
I’m really curious to see what you come up with.
Before I wrap up, I also wanted to mention that voting for the Zelda Awards closes on March 15, so this is the final stretch.
Sacrimony was nominated for:
• Best Fantasy Webcomic
• Best Series
• Best Writer
If you’ve enjoyed the story or my work over the years, I would be incredibly grateful if you’d take a moment to vote.

And if I was asked to do a 'my story is like the one by X or Y' comparison to explain what my stories were like I wouldn't have a clue what to say either. Sorry for not being very helpful with this Matta.
Hey… Kids? 😆
