And if I was asked to do a 'my story is like the one by X or Y' comparison to explain what my stories were like I wouldn't have a clue what to say either. Sorry for not being very helpful with this Matta.

No worries! I feel like, as writers, it's hard for us to compare work to other work because we overthink and end up thinking "It's kind of like this but no it has this and that and doesn't have that, so not really...."

But the whole reason I took up with Sacrimony was because it was so completely and refreshingly different to any other fantasy webcomic or novel that i'd ever seen.

Thanks! I do highly recommend Saga, which has sort of the same themes as Sacrimony. It revolves around family, friendship, love and a forbidden child and focuses on the more human elements while there happens to be a massive war going on in the background.

In terms of Sacrimony being about life and what we chose to do with it in spite of fate/society/etc, I could see it having a lot in common with Frieren. I can also seeing it have some similarities with historical dramas like Medici and Borgia (not "The Borgias" that's a different show) for how it follows multiple characters making fucked up choices in a fucked up world for their own reasons/goals/desires/survival. I realize that might be a bit of a stretch, but when I think of Sacrimony, it's really about these characters themselves and the interpersonal drama between all of them rather than any sort of epic adventure to "save the day", which is what makes it such a stand out. From the world building perspective, parts of the world government/religion give me Final Fantasy 10 vibes - oppressive world organization tries to keep order for the gods but restricting personal freedoms and insisting total loyalty to rituals and traditions in spite of evidence to the contrary and bad actors corrupting the system.
